BSNL – Airtel DNS Problems – Solve by using OpenDNS
BSNL – Airtel DNS Problems
Indian Broadband users especially BSNL and occasionally Airtel subscribers face slow internet / DNS related issues. This is due to the DNS Servers which are unresponsive or slow.
This can be solved by using an alternative DNS instead of the default :
Preferred DNS server – 61.1.96.69 (BSNL DNS Server IP)
Alternate DNS server – 61.1.96.71 (BSNL DNS Server IP)
One good alternative is to use OpenDNS - DNS IP Addresses as below :
Preferred DNS server – 208.67.222.222
Alternate DNS server – 208.67.220.220

Google comes into this dns business, directly competing with OpenDNS. The ip address are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Seems faster than DNS and non existing website addresses are not automatically hijacked to any other website/Search Engine(as against OpenDNS). But in the future, they may change their policy by using their own advertisement coupled with their search result.
